SB 648 -- DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

SPONSOR:  Vogel (Kelly)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on
Corrections and Public Institutions by a vote of 8 to 0.

This bill authorizes the Department of Corrections to disburse
federal funds under applicable federal guidelines and state funds
as appropriated and directed by the General Assembly.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and
FY 2010.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that these funds will be helpful to
communities that are accepting offenders who are re-entering
society.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Kelly for Senator
Vogel; and Department of Corrections.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
